Greek Souvlaki
Souvla meaning spit, skewer. One of the oldest ways to enjoy meat in Greece and the Mediterranean. We find such spits in Bronze age like the ones of the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion with its Minoan collection.
Small pieces of meat grilled and usually served with bread, pita bread, pita wrap garnished with potato-chips, sauce and grilled vegetables. The meat is either pork, lamb, chicken or even beef… this is the oldest fast food and very possibly the tastiest!
